lol it's funny, whether you meant to or not you just described a key point to why Communism fails. Unions are actually a socialist idea. As is social security, medicare, medicaid, etc. Anything that involves the betterment of the group over the individual. I support unions, because I think that's really the only way the common man can get a "fair shake" where corporations are concerned. Of course, there are problems, just as you mentioned, but those problems are not exclusive to unions. You could work your *** off and still get fired for no reason with Employment at Will. You could work your *** off and get passed over for a promotion because you don't kiss corporate *** as well as the next guy. Etc, etc, you see my point? I think unions do much more good than harm in most cases and you can't blame problems like that all on unions. Because they would still exist even without unions. It's simply too bad that some people use them as a crutch to be innefficient. There's a fine line there, no doubt about it.
Of course the poor get **** on. If they didn't they wouldn't want to better themselves, so they in essence can **** on others, ie other people that are poor. I don't like unions, sure they help give workers better benefits and pay, where they normally wouldn't, but in unions there isnt any individualism. It doesnt matter if you work your *** off or do enough to not get fired, you get paid the same, so most people just work enough to not get fired because no matter what they do as a union worker, they aren't getting treated different than the guy who does as little as possible.
lol so you're saying the Rich serve their purpose by giving us something to aspire to? I think their real purpose is to rub our faces in their **** and make us do the real work. There are some that actually earned it, but I'd guess most got their wealth given to them on a silver platter and have never done a day's work in their life.
As for unions, I support them. By the same token, though, I understand a business needs to be profitable if it is to succeed and grow. But the cogs in the machine, the workers that make the company run, shouldn't be neglected and treated like ****. That doesn't mean they should slack off, but I could see where unions would help in situations such as Employment at Will.
well there has to be rich and poor. if everyone had the same thing in this country no one would do **** and nothing would get done. people need something to strive for and in this country it is to collect wealth and junk you don't really need. Lots of pissed off people who were working in a factory that are now working for minimum wage. Factory work has never been reliable in this country and unions inability to negotiate isn't helping. In town the entire work force of GPC have been locked out for months because they wouldn't sign a new contract because of a dispute and then the economy crashed so the contracts being offered got a whole lot worse and the union won't sign a new contract even though most of the workers want them to. Greatest thing to come from this. They hired temps to do the union workers jobs and productivity increased significantly and now they're seriously considering firing all the union workers and keeping the temps on.
